![]() THE HILTON HOTEL AND CASINO Central Promenade, Douglas This Hotel was first built as the Palace in 1963, then it changed hands to be one of the Stakis group in 1994. It became one of the major nerve centres of the Isle of Man TT, with riders, officials and entrants taking all the posh rooms. When the Douglas Bay Hotel was torn down, the reps and journalists came in to the bar in the evenings to chat and interview. The bar must have done very well in those days.. ![]() MANX RADIOs 'RADIO TT' STUDIO In the bar Manx Radio installed a studio which was popular in the evenings when you could not only hear your favourite rider being interviewed but also see him. At first it was in the main window then the studio was moved to the central wall of the restaurant/bar. The Round Bar was created and anybody who was anybody often had his own seat night after night. The food was superb and very reasonably priced. The hotel became a Hilton in 2000 . ![]() Major functions were held in the meetings rooms and many clubs and associations had their TT banquets there. In 2004 I look forward to continuing my relationship with the Hilton. Everything about this hotel is good, except that Manx Radio no longer have their studio there...Bring it back !!! My thanks to all the staff. ![]() BOARD SAYS "OKELLS BEER SALES UP - HUNTLYS BACK !!" ![]() THE HILTON HOTEL AND CASINO Central Promenade, Douglas MAY I TAKE THIS OPPORTUNITY TO THANK ALL THE STAFF OF THE HILTON WHO LOOKED AFTER ME AND MY GUESTS SO WELL.
